My wonderful neighbor told me about deployment quilts. Through the military YMCA a quilting group will make your children a quilt. You send pictures of the child and their mom/dad (service member) and voila! We were blessed enough to receive the quilts prior to Mike leaving so he was able to present them to the kids. They turned out beautiful and so appropriate for each child. I didn't realize how comforting they would be, both kids sleep with them every night.
