Our Christmas "Card"

So for the first time since having children I haven't ordered Christmas cards. I started writing out a lengthy explanation as to why and then hit the backspace. Why do I need to explain? I'm busy - it's not a priority - I just don't feel like it this year. Take your pick. I still do LOVE all my friends and family, I'm just foregoing the cards this year. I am contemplating a New Year card but let's face it, I'm not going to be any less busy then. So don't hold your breath.

SO......Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Perkins!

P.S. Prince does not always look so terrified, I'm pretty sure it's the choke hold Payton is giving him to stay in the picture that has him fearing for his life. :)

Scented Ornaments

Another project we did was cinnamon scented Christmas ornaments. You make a gooey dough, use cookie cutters and voila!
Wyatt was brave and got his hands in there - he loved every minute of it.
But there favorite part? Was making the holes in the ornaments with straws - and blowing out the "niblets" of dough onto the table.

And here is Payton's project that followed the ornaments. A sculpture was made with the "niblets". Love my kids.

Stringing Garland

My mickey mouse made up of cranberries and popcorn. This was kind of an impromptu activity. The kids LOVED it.
Blurry but this is Wyatt stringing his cranberries. He was really into it, and very good.
Payton came out and soon joined the action. She was the one who requested popcorn to go with the cranberries.
We only did 2 small strands but it was so much fun.

Gingerbread Crayons

For the second year in a row I have made gingerbread shaped crayons for Wyatt's preschool friends for Christmas. This year Wyatt participated in the process more. It's a pretty simple process. You peel the paper off of your crayons, break them into pieces and place them in your desired shaped mold.
Pop them in a 200 degree oven and bake until melted, about 20 minutes.

Let them cool and pop em out!

Salad People

Today we made Salad People, from the cookbook of the same name. The kids loved it. Wyatt made his person just like the recipe said. He is very meticulous when it comes to following recipes.

Payton, however always likes to think outside the box. She made a Rapunzel. :)
