Peaceful Play

Anyone who has been in my house with both my children for any amount of time know that peaceful play between them is hard to come by. Mainly because I have a 2 year old little boy who doesn't know how to play with his sister without pushing, screaming or chasing her around. And his antics don't exactly create an incentive for her to initiate play with him. So you can imagine the frustration I feel daily as I am constantly telling him to get off her and her to stop screaming so loudly. Most days I swear I can't even pee in peace! Wyatt on his own is a handful to handle. He is definately without a doubt in the middle of the terrible twos. His favorite thing to do (aside from not listening to me) is to yell "no" to just about everything I say. Leads to quite a bit of time in the naughty corner. So you can imagine and appreciate my joy when Payton asked to spider swing with her brother. Took a little coaxing on Y's part but he finally agreed and ended up loving it. They even continued swinging as I sprinted to the house to grab the camera (I had to capture this moment of togetherness). And the peaceful play actually continued for a bit - long enough to make a quick call to my Grammi while throwing dinner together. Then it was back to reality with a scream of "Mom! brother is pouring sand all over!" Oh well, I knew it couldn't last. But how nice it was while it did!

Cookies

Again, just a quick glimpse at our Easter activities. Sugar cookie baking/decorating/eating is both a Christmas and an Easter tradition. Y was really loving it this year! Payton had a great time too!

Easter

Here are just a few snap shots of our Easter. Yes, I know it was weeks ago! The Easter Bunny arrived before church and left tons of eggs (50 I think!) and a basket for each of the kids. We were lucky to have both Grammie and Grandma Kathy with us to celebrate.

In her usual style Payton took her sweet time examining each and every egg. Wyatt, on the other hand had his own style as well - run around screaming "eggs!".
Payton wore the prettiest green and white dress with a pink sash and trim. She picked these shoes out at the store (after 3 failed attempts by her mommy to pick out shoes) and the socks - well what can I say? She has her own style and who am I to get in the way of that?

Chocolate bunnies?! Did you say chocolate bunnies?! Thanks Grammie!

Wyatt immediately devoured his bunny. Payton gently nibbled on hers.

It was a lovely day. It was especially nice to have Grammie and Grandma Kathy with us. I wish all our holidays could be spent just like Easter.

The Dreaded "Summer Cut"

While Payti and I were at the theatre seeing Go Dog Go, Daddy took it upon himself to give his son the "summer cut". No, I was not consulted nor do I like said cut. Where did my 2 year old go?

My Little Girl

That's my little girl listening to her new ipod. The Easter Bunny brought it, complete with all her favorite music. Where did the time go? Here she is hanging out listening to tunes like she should be 13, not 6. I realize that in this day and age she is behind some of her peers as this is her first ipod. For $50 at Walmart Mike couldn't pass it up, I know he is hoping this will save him from listening to Go Fish in the car! (or Christmas carols in July!) She is growing far too fast. Where did my baby go?

Payton's elephant

After watching Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer over Christmas Payton wanted to put the toy elephant in the movie on her wish list. I explained to her that just because it is in the movie doesn't mean it will be in the store. To which she replied, I know - we can make one! I don't exactly remember what possessed me to agree but I did. So Mike took her out and came home with material and stuffing. What transpired in the next day or two was a very sad attempt at creating this elephant. I admittedly am NOT a sewer. We got as far as a feeble attempt at some legs then used "we are moving soon" as an excuse and packed the supplies up in hopes that Payton would soon forget. Not my child.......... Perfect timing for Grammie to visit! So after settling in I kindly unpacked the box which held the sewing machine and all the materials we had purchased for said elephant. Of course we had the wrong material (amateurs I know!) but that was soon remedied with a trip to the store. Mom wanted to know what kind of pattern we were using......pattern you say? No, we were just winging it! Yes, this is why I don't sew! So Grammie went to work, creating her own pattern fashioned after a picture we found on the Internet (did you know you can purchase a plush elephant from the movie for a mere $300?) And voila! Here is what she ended up with:
Of course we had our little mishaps (yes, I did my share of ironing, stuffing, and cutting - just NO sewing!) But after a couple of minor fixes the final product was, well, dare I say adorable?

Payton was full of "oh thank you Grammie!" I love it!

Grammie

I am once again behind, but for good reason. One of my favorite people came to visit and there was just too much fun going on to sit down at the computer. There will be more posts to follow to fill you in on all the happenings while Grammie was here. There was crafting (Grammie always seems to have a project to do while she is here, it's the only time my sewing machine gets used!) , egg coloring, cookie baking and just playing. She is on her way home as I type and we miss her already! Come back soon!

Water Boy

Whether the bath or shower Wyatt loves the water. Can't wait for the weather to warm up and let him loose on the beach!

Now That's Talent!

There is a tradition in the Headley family - it's called the spoon trick. Payton and Wyatt have quickly picked this up - and are practicing for the next family "reuioning". Uncle Chuck, aren't you proud!
