"Home" School (just not at home)

The morning snack that is always requested .
The ever present need to squeeze in housework when I can.
The small detours when "life" happens. ("life" today was a nail in a tire)

And the place to go to make everything ok.

Skeleton Cookies

I attempted to make skeleton cookies with the kids the other day. Rolling out the dough and eating the dough was fun. Trying to squeeze out the icing to make the skeletons - not so much. They opted for their own "art". Payton always thinks outside the box and created a gingerbread cake for me - complete with - gasp - my real age!
Wyatt loved rolling, mushing, and eating the dough. (and the cookies for that matter)

Here is the lone skeleton - done by yours truly.

Soccer

Payton had her first soccer game today. Ever. Don't know who was more nervous, me or her. I think me. She was a rock star. I was so proud of her. She tried her best and was super tough. She was awarded Player of the Week for her accomplishment. Love.this.girl.

Honey Citrus Cookies

Wyatt wanted to make honey cookies. I just happened to have a new recipe that called for honey - and maybe a not so ripe lemon from our tree. So we began.....
I wanted to get the usual little hands helping with the mixing pictures but all I kept getting were these - cute nonetheless.
The end result was split - the girls liked them (this big girl with coffee) but the boys both said they were "sweet". So the recipes not a keeper - but the pictures are.

My boy

Love this boy!

He/She Girl Scout Night

Payton took her Daddy to the He/She Girl Scout Hoedown tonight. She picked out her outfit.
Complete with boots.
Cute belt. (maybe a little make-up....)
Ready to go!

Math Manipulatives

Who knew stuffed animals could help solve multiplication?

Family Bike Ride

We took off to the park for a family bike ride this afternoon. With Mike working so much this is a rarity. It was so much fun.

I only wish I had sound with this picture so you could hear the roars coming from Wyatt as he peddled his fastest!

Dinner California Style

Dinner was outside tonight - I love being able to eat outside in the gorgeous just turning fall weather - without bugs! Never possible in Florida. Above is Wyatt playing with branches, helping Daddy prepare the fire for dessert!
Dinner was chili and cornbread with honey butter!
My family!
This girl never goes anywhere without a book.
You guessed it - smores!
Could it get any better?

Raven Hill Orchard

Apple picking at Raven Hill Orchard was awesome. Trees were just the right size for little hands.

We have some baking to do!

Julian

Today we visited Julian. We were on our way to pick apples when we saw this little guy in town. What's cooler than riding a pony?

Riding a carriage being pulled by a pony!
Next stop - Julian Pie Co. Yummo. The kids had pumpkin....
Daddy had peach apple........
And I had some apple memory cookies - delicious crust pastry with cinnamon sugar. Heaven.

Payton couldn't resist the book store. She picked out a fairy book and Call of the Wild. We love our avid reader.
