A Day to Celebrate

 Wyatt has been sick with the flu. All week. He had a fever. All week. We watching a lot of TV. All week. Did I mention this has gone on ALL WEEK? Well today is the day - he is fever free. That kind of news was cause for celebration. So when my little man suggested we go on a "hike" I happily obliged. Off we went with him leading the way - he even agreed to carry he and sissy's waters.

 The hike was walking along a trail in the back of our neighborhood.

 Here is Payton in front on her "favorite" tree. Not our yard - a random house on our street. She was hesitant to stand in their yard.

 I was excited to see a little Spring color at the end of our "hike". Love this yellow.

 Ok - these are out of order (darn blog). But we had a lovely plate of girl scout cookies (what else this time of year?) and some fresh lemonade.

 Here they are at the park - a pit stop on our way home.

 And here he is -  Mr Fever Free! With a glass of lemonade and a lemonade cookie!

That's my little man on my lap. Not because he is sick but because he wanted to snuggle. Love. him.

Queen Califia's Magic Circle Field Trip

 Wyatt still has the flu and is on day 3 of a fever. But we all have a bit of cabin fever and I just couldn't stand the idea of sitting at home again all day watching TV. So we ventured out to Kit Carson Park to check out Queen Califia's Magic Circle. It is nestled in the park which was perfect. We could be outside without worrying about infecting anyone.

 The kids loved traipsing through the park, they both definitely needed some outside time.

 This picture is out of order and it's hard to explain the "circle". This part is a maze which the kids loved.

 Once you get through the maze these concrete statues are everywhere in the center of the circle. It is beautiful.

 While the kids ran around I snapped some pictures.

 The detail in her work is amazing. And the fact that this is at our local park is also amazing.

 See Wyatt? He is low crawling in an attempt to "sneak" up on us. In about 5 minutes though he was running behind yelling "wait up!" He had reached his limit.

A quick trip to feed the ducks and back home we went. The perfect little outing.

Randomness

 Updating the blog has been on the bottom of my list - things are crazy busy here and it's taking a lot of juggling to get it done AND keep my sanity. Then my deployed husband kindly asked me to update it. So here are some random shots from the last few weeks. Above is from our road trip to San Jose to visit Uncle Chuck and Aunt Joanne - Uncle Chuck took us for a ride in his sweet ride! The kids loved it. I did too! After that is some Hawaiian ice - close to home and really yummy Daddy!

Trail Walk

After preschool pick-up Wyatt requested a trail walk. So I packed some lunch, we headed to the park and ate, rode bikes and then headed to the trail right across the park. The kids have been here with Daddy. Payton went the day before with the girl scouts. She was not excited about going again so soon. I explained it's what we do for our family.

He was so excited to be showing me the way. I was thoroughly impressed with everything he was telling me on the way up. I have to remember to share this with Daddy.
Upon our return Payton was calling us. Wyatt runs up and says with concern in his voice "Payton, are you in danger?" No, she was too busy collecting rocks to be in danger. This made her happy again. Collecting rocks always makes her happy.
My favorite site was this sunflower at the trail entrance.

Happy Play

Today as we started our homeschooling adventure I am thankful for the imaginary play that occurred between my usually bickering children. The fun, belly laugh, silly play that they sometimes do that makes me so incredibly thankful to God for allowing me to be their Mom.

Safari Park

We headed up (one whole exit on the freeway!) to the Safari Park. I love that this place is super close, and we have season passes.

Wyatt loved that they played good dancing music!

Payton dressed for the occasion. You know, summer at the Safari Park. A day of walking, in the sun. Boots? Yes, Mommy brought her flips. Which she begged for soon after this picture. But didn't want to bring........

Yikes! This is why I leave the trail exploring around our area to Daddy.

Discoveries

One of my favorite things at Mom's house was watching what the kids would find, or remember from previous trips.
It had been 3 years since we had been there but Payton still found something to play with. Our last visit she was infatuated with these brass figurines that have since gone. However, these angels worked just fine.

And of course the snow globes. Now one less after Wyatt dropped one on his foot. Ouch.

Uncle Bill's old cars were cool, as were the Star Wars guys circa the 80's. So cool to see what they can get into. They scoured Grammie's house from top to bottom, even finding a "treasure chest". Can't wait to see what the next trip holds.

Trip

Here are a couple of airport shots. Both kids did great. Only once instance of getting gum too late and having ear issues. Flights were on time and for the most part easy. Although we did check one more bag on the way back making it easier for a certain someone's back.....

Tram

So getting back into the blogging thing is going to be a slow, out of sequence process for awhile. Just going to post what feels good at the time. We had the best Christmas vacation. One of the highlights was our trip up the Tram in Palm Springs. The kids (and the adults) enjoyed our first taste of snow. Although we weren't quite prepared and after getting cold and wet decided we definately needed snow gear for our trip to Big Bear.

By the end Payton's pants were soaked. She didn't care, she had a blast!

Hmm....do you think he is having fun?
